The Delta 400 is a design-forward boat with performance numbers that will get just about anyone’s adrenaline up. Her lines, most notable for the reverse pilothouse windshield, are inspired by traditional Swedish workboats, but ironically also make her look undeniably modern, particularly when coupled with her low-slung profile.

Her single-step, monocoque hull offers a cushy ride while simultaneously maintaining torsional rigidity that you can feel. Though Delta is famous for building carbon boats—its 54 and 88 are fully carbon—this boat is actually vinylesterresin infused glass and cored with divinycell.

Underway, the Delta needs every ounce of the strength her build process provides. With twin 370-horsepower Volvo Penta D6s churning away beneath her sole she can hit a blistering top speed of 46 knots, and a cruise of about 39. And one can attest from personal experience that that stepped hull grabs at the water at those speeds, deftly slicing through any chop you may encounter, and landing softly off the peaks.

The boat has a three-stateroom layout. The most interesting of those staterooms is one positioned aft, near the doorway to the cockpit, and to port. This large aft cabin is separated from the more traditional cabins forward, so the grownups can get some privacy if they have the kids aboard.

What you get with the Delta 400 is a well thought-out, sharp-looking vessel that’s an absolute blast to drive. Upon her arrival and acceptance in the U.S. market, it would appear those traits have served her very, very well.

• Carbon Fiber Structure

Carbon fiber is an extremely strong and light material for the most high-end and luxurious sports cars and jets. With the carbon fiber structure, it makes Delta 33 Open lighter and faster, and has better performance on nautical mile?30% less on fuel consumption than competitors.

• Interior

The interior is crafted with materials such as satin teak, Corian, and glass mosaics. To forward is a large cabin with plenty of headroom, double bed, and ample storage for clothing and gear. An ensuite head comes complete with toilet and shower and finishes using Corian. To aft is a split-twin stateroom for guests or children. The salon table can accommodate up to nine people in raised cushions for best visibility through the large picture windows. The galley has been updated with white countertops.

• Helm

The helm is designed with all the necessary functions within reach of the operator and enough room for a large navigation screen. The 400 includes aft-access to the bow on the starboard side with teak floors leading the way.
