Hurricane Kayaks

In 1998, a group of kayaking veterans who loved the great outdoors decided to create their own brand designed to fit every type of paddler. They built them light and they built them tough. In fact, these super-stable kayaks were designed to make every paddle experience the time of your life. And they named the brand, aptly, Hurricane Kayaks.

Hurricane kayaks are made in the USA, and are produced using Trylon ABS thermoform plastic, as opposed to the traditional polythene plastic. The result is they weigh 10-15 lbs. less than comparable kayaks, and sets Hurricane apart from its competitors. They are coated with a special UV protectant that resists fading and stops the boats from becoming brittle. Day after day, adventure after adventure, Hurricane Kayaks surrounds you with a hyper-durable structure.

Hurricane’s recreational style kayak, the Santee, is for beginners who’ve never held a paddle and for experienced kayakers looking to add to their fleet without subtracting a lot from their wallet. The Santee is available in 11 - 14-foot lengths and weighs between 38-57 lbs. The Santee includes bow and stern deck bungee systems for securing gear, large cockpits for easy in-out access, comfortable adjustable seating, and a twist lock foot brace system allowing for adjustments when seated. The Santee Tandem 140, a lightweight kayak with all the amenities of the single, is fast and stable with plenty of room to bring the kids or your pooch.

The Skimmer, Hurricane’s Sit-On-Top series, is their most popular line. These self-bailing kayaks offer extra deck space and provide the user with an excellent on-water experience due to its superior “freedom of movement.” With a range of 11 - 14 feet, they are the only Sit-On-Top kayaks that weigh between 40-65 lbs. The Skimmer features hatches for dry storage, scuppers in the foot wells and rear wells for proper drainage, and Hurricane’s AireStream seatback- an adjustable seat for maximum comfort. The Skimmer 120 Propel is the industry’s first lightweight pedal drive kayak. At only 63 lbs. the Propel is easy enough to be carried to your launch destination without the need for a cart or trailer.
