During the 60s, while the Beach Boys were making records, the legendary Hobie Surf Team was setting them. Their lineup featured all the surfing rock stars of their day- Phil Edwards, Joey Cabell, Corky Carroll, Micky Munoz, Joyce Hoffman, Joey Hamasaki, Gary Propper, Billy Hamilton and Herbie Fletcher to name a few.

I have one simple rule of thumb in buying any pre-owned vessel. Pay for a boat survey. Unless you’re towing home a scowl bought for the purpose of a complete refit, hire a qualified marine surveyor and have your prospective vessel thoroughly checked out.

Before the first millennium, ice was harvested in ancient China for the purpose of keeping drinks cold. The Greeks and Romans built large, insulated storage pits and filled them with the last of the winter’s snow in an attempt to enjoy a refreshingly cool drink for as long as possible. If you lived in a warmer climate you could act like an Egyptian and carry your drink containers to the roof at the end of the day to have them cooled by the night air. By the 1600’s Frenchmen were cooling their drinks by rotating long-necked bottles in a solution of saltpeter and water which could actually produce very low temperatures and even make ice!

The most significant change occurred when VersaDock released its patented double float, V-Float technology which provided for safe and controlled drive on docking systems for watercraft ranging from jet skis to very large boats.
